The building was designed by Alfred Waterhouse, and is built of terracotta manufactured by Gibbs and Canning Limited of Tamworth (c.1878)—two of the same driving forces behind the Natural History Museum in London. (2)

55 Broadway is a notable building overlooking St. James's Park in London. It was designed by Charles Holden and built between 1927 and 1929, and in 1931 the building earned him the RIBA London Architecture Medal. It was built as a new headquarters building for the Underground Electric Railways Company of London (UERL), the main forerunner of London Underground.

Ramsgate Hoverport used to serve Hoverlloyd services to France. In the 80s this company merged with the Seaspeed Hovercraft at Dover making Ramsgate redundant. The Hoverport fell into disrepair by the early 90s when these photos were taken,
